Fr. John Doctor, OFM, vice president for mission and ministry at Quincy University and president of the International Board of Director of Franciscan International will visit Marian University on Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the Mother Theresa Hackelmeier Memorial Library auditorium. He will speak about “St. Clare of Assisi: A Prophetic Voice for Us Today.”
Palm Sunday 2012 is the 800th anniversary of Clare’s leaving home to become one of the first followers of Francis of Assisi. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, a monastic religious order for women in the Franciscan tradition, and wrote their Rule of Life—the first monastic rule known to have been written by a woman. Following her death, the order she founded was renamed in her honor as the Order of St. Clare, commonly referred to today as the Poor Clares.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Sr. Jean Marie Cleveland at firstname.lastname@example.org or 317.955.6508.
