MAP Introduces Additional Degree Programs - 9/8/2011

Marian’s Adult Programs is expanding by offering two new degrees. Now, in addition to the ABA and BBA degree programs, MAP has launched a bachelor of science degree in nursing for students who are already registered nurses and an associate of science degree in paralegal studies.

The RN to BSN program is designed with the working registered nurse in mind. Recent studies show that hospitals and doctors are now encouraging their nurses to earn bachelor’s degrees to advance to leadership roles. With MAP’s RN to BSN program, this is now possible as students can continue to work full time while also taking courses in the evenings. To be eligible for this program a student must have earned an associate in nursing from a regionally accredited institution and hold an active RN license in the state of Indiana.

Marian University’s paralegal program is delivered in five- and eight-week courses that allow adult students to balance their coursework with other work and family responsibilities. There are no study groups, so students set their own pace. Paralegal careers are ranked as 14th among top jobs according to Money, "Best Jobs in America" 2007. According to the same study, there is a 30 percent expected job growth in this field in the next 10 years (Money, "Best Jobs in America" 2007). MAP students seeking a business degree may want to consider taking a few of the paralegal courses as electives or maybe even consider earning an associate degree in paralegal before completing a bachelor degree in business. For more information about the paralegal studies program, contact your advisor.
