Four Marian University students presented papers at the 20th annual
Undergraduate Conference on English Language and Literature on March 25-26, 2011, at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. Only 60 collegiate presentations were accepted. The conference featured a keynote presentation by author Mark Salzman.
Anna Allen, a Batesville native, presented "The Play of Blythdale: Hawthorne's Criticism of the Transcendental Utopia."
Karen McNulty of Indianapolis presented "Behind Little Women: The Double Life of Louisa May Alcott."
Mallori Smith of Indianapolis presented "Men, Women, and Conflicting Morals in Alcott's Little Women."
Allison Boike of Kokomo presented "Dancing on Her Grave: Symbolism in the Death of Zenobia."
