The first board meeting of 2011 for the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce will be held at Marian University on January 13, 2011. The chamber is central Indiana’s largest business membership organization.
University president Daniel J. Elsener will address the chamber board members with an update on the university’s progress, including the college of osteopathic medicine. Elsener has been a chamber board member since 2007. Board members will also be introduced to Dr. Russ Kershaw, the dean of the Clark H. Byrum School of Business. The business school is named for Indianapolis business icon and president of The Key Corporation, Clark H. Byrum.
The Honorable Greg Ballard, mayor of Indianapolis, will be the special guest speaker; he is expected to give the chamber board an update on the state of the city.
Marian University has hosted other Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce events on campus, including Working Together Works, the first-ever joint meeting of the city's business associations. The university is a longtime sponsor of the chamber’s legislative outreach event, HobNob, the premier political event in central Indiana.
