On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, Marian College will host a conference featuring Dr. John Schacter. Schacter is a leading authority on the use of educational assessment and is a Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Educational Leadership Institute.
Aimed toward educators, the conference showcases Schacter’s innovative approach to measuring student achievement and teacher effectiveness. Known as Project STATS (Sustainable Technology Applications for Teacher Success), the program will be used by Marian College to assess the professional development of student-teachers who are part of the Teach for America (TFA) and Indianapolis Teaching Fellows (ITF) teacher licensure programs.
Funding for Project STATS is provided by a grant from The Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation. It will enable the college to host more than 400 teachers in the TFA and ITF programs by using technological tools including live web-based video conferencing, distance learning, and online education.
