On Tuesday, February 24, Marian College students will join students from Indiana’s independent colleges and universities at a student lobbying day at the Indiana State House to tell legislators how vital SSACI funds (need-based aid administered by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana) have been to their college careers and to urge continued support of this program.
Organized by Independent Colleges of Indiana, the goal of the event is to not only raise awareness to the legislature of the importance of state financial aid—to put students’ names and faces on the state funds they appropriate—but also to introduce students to the legislative process and how it directly affects their lives and futures.
Marian College has been actively involved in support the important work of SSACI, an organization dedicated to making college affordable to students, whether they attend public or independent institutions. This organization has been a great benefactor for students who choose to attend private institutions.
