St.Vincent Health has given a significant gift to Marian College and agreed to lend its name to the new multi-purpose athletic facility at Marian College.
On November 17, Marian College president Daniel J. Elsener and Vince Caponi, president and chief executive officer of St.Vincent Health, were joined by Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard, and business leaders Michael Browning (Browning Investments) and Jerry Semler (OneAmerica Financial), to unveil the new name.
The gift kicks off the second phase of the construction on the facility, which houses the college’s football, soccer, and track and field teams. Phase one consisted of the multi-purpose field and track, a scoreboard, and utility, easement, and roadwork. Phase two will include building a stadium seating area for 3,000 people (2,500 on the home side and 500 on the visitor side), an upper-level press box, locker rooms and storage areas, an entryway, a ticket booth, a concession stand, and other aspects of the stadium that will enable the college to host games and events on campus.
An additional $500,000 in funding is needed to complete phase two by the end of the summer, in order for the football team to play home games on campus this fall for the first time. Interested friends and alumni can help fund phase two by investing in a pillar of support. Contact Sarah Ley at sley@marian.edu or 317.955.6212 for details.
