On Tuesday, November 11, 2008, there will be an interfaith peace-prayer service, “Dare to Imagine,” from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Bishop Chartrand Memorial Chapel in Marian Hall.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Vimal Patel from the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana, who will dare the audience to imagine a new world of toleration, hospitality, and peace, achieved through formal prayer and prayer-in-action.
The service will feature prayers for peace from the perspectives of American Indian, Bahá'í, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, and Sikhism. Presenters from each tradition will raise their voices in common worship through songs, meditations, dance, poems, or stories. The Marian College Chamber Singers will also perform. After the service, learn about other opportunities for interfaith sharing and local prayer in-action projects.
This event is sponsored by Marian College and Peace Learning Center, and it is open to the public at no charge. For more information, contact Sr. Norma Rocklage at 317.955.6378 or nrosf@marian.edu.
