Marian College was recently chosen as one of the semi-finalists for the 2008 BKD Indiana Excellence Awards.

Sponsored by BKD, one of the 10 largest CPA and advisory firms in the United States; Indiana Business magazine; and National City bank; the BKD Indiana Excellence Awards are bestowed upon organizations that demonstrate remarkable improvements over time.

The awards are presented to members from the following categories:

• Healthcare
• Manufacturing and distribution
• Not-for-profit and government
• Service

Marian College’s position as a semi-finalist can be the attributed to the college’s strategic and measurable improvements toward its goal of adopting university status. These include record enrollment; increased scholarship offerings, including 22 new endowed scholarships since October 2007; new facilities on campus, including a residence hall and multi-purpose athletic facility; increased donations, including a recent $2 million gift for mathematics and science education; and new programs, including a technical theatre minor, photography major, and new marching band.
