About Dr. Charles Henley 

Dr. Charles HenleyDr. Charles Henley was named the associate dean for clinical affairs of Marian University's college of osteopathic medicine on January 20, 2011. A native Oklahoman, Dr. Henley graduated from Northeastern State University in 1971 with a degree in chemistry. He earned a master's degree in biochemistry from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Following graduation he received one of three NIH fellowships for graduate studies at Georgetown University. He earned a DO in 1977 from what is now the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He did his family medicine residency in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Army Medical Corps, graduating in 1980. His first assignment after graduation was at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii , where he also completed an M.P.H. in epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Hawaii School of Public Health. Dr. Henley practiced for 20 years in the military and was active in faculty development, research, and teaching. During that time he served as a program director, fellowship director, and department chairman in family medicine, as well as the chief of policy for the Army Medical Corps, and chief consultant to the Army Surgeon General.

After leaving the military in 1997, he returned to Oklahoma as professor and chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. In July 2004, he became professor, vice chairman, and Founders and Associates Research Chair in Family Medicine at OU-Tulsa. On March 18, 2011, Dr. Henley received the award of Fellow by the American College of Osteopthic Family Physicians in recognition of his more than 30 years of practice and service as a family medicine educator.
