The Fisher Hall Art Gallery at Marian College will feature the paintings of Jenny Pauckner. The exhibit, entitled Making Faces, will be open January 14-25; a reception for the show will be on January 24 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
In the exhibit, Pauckner displays a number of portraits painted over the past three years. “When I began this series, I wanted to explore the concept of expression. I paint my subjects distorting their own and other’s faces to convey an expression which is not easily articulated by words. It is my hope that rendering these transient expressions in the more permanent medium of paint will elicit a deeper consideration of them,” she explained.
The artist earned a B.A. in studio art from Marian College and an M.F.A. in painting from Indiana State University. Recent exhibitions in which her work appeared include Her Mark at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago and the Nude International at the Lexington Art League in Kentucky. Currently, Pauckner is an assistant professor of art at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.
