John Grimes made history on November 10, 2007, when he won his 500th men’s basketball game. Grimes, head coach of the Marian College Knights, has reached a mark few collegiate coaches achieve.
To honor this accomplishment, John has been named a Distinguished Hoosier by the Office of the Governor of Indiana. The award is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Hoosier and honors those who have worked to better Indiana. He will receive the award at a reception on February 2 following the men’s basketball game against Taylor University. You can read the game recap and more information about Coach Grimes's accomplishment on ourathletics web site.
A celebratory reception (Clare Hall gym, open to the public at no charge, sponsored by St.Vincent Sports Medicine) will immediately follow the men's basketball game against Taylor University (3 p.m. in the Physical Education Center; tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, and free for Marian College students, faculty, staff and alumni with their Marian College I.D.) and last until 7 p.m. Reservations are requested, contact Linda Grubb firstname.lastname@example.org or 317.955.6123.
Please join us! Those of you who know John and have worked with him over the years know how special he is to Marian College—and to the many, many student-athletes in our communities.
