During spring break at Marian College, many students forgo a week on the beach to participate in a trip structured around service.Alternative breaks are immersion trips that give students the opportunity to travel to domestic and international destinations, see the world through others’ eyes, build friendships, and provide meaningful service.
On March 6, 2008, 15 nursing students traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras for a medical mission trip. They will be involved in a community health education project through a health fair.
A group of students left for Washington, D.C. on March 8, 2008. They will be studying urban poverty, advocacy, homelessness, domestic violence, and the HIV/AIDS population.
A third group of students traveled to Appalachia on March 9, 2008. They will be immersing themselves in rural poverty and related issues, as well as providing service on Glenmary Farms.
