Professor Steege finished his B.A. from South Dakota State University in 1995 with a double major in art and communications studies and theatre. He completed his M.F.A. in scene design in 1998 at the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Madison. Professor Steege began teaching at Marian University in 1998 as the technical director and became the director of theatre in 2003.
He continues to work as a professional freelance scenic designer and has worked with Indianapolis Civic Theatre, the Lilly Theatre at the Children's Museum, Dance Kaleidescope, the Artist's Studio, Children's Theatre Institute, Door Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, St. Croix Valley Repertory Theatre, Madison Repertory Theatre, Madison Savoyards, Inc., Prairie Repertory Theatre, and St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre.
Most recently, Professor Steege has been trying his hand at writing plays for children and has produced three productions so far at Marian University including How Zebra Got Her Stripes and Other African Folktales, The Wit of the Leprechaun and Other Tales of Irish Lore and How Fox Fooled Everyone! and Other Latin American Folktales.
