Junior Joann Derbiszewski was elected President of Student Government of Mairan University (SGMU). Joann is the fifth San Damiano Scholar elected student body president. Other San Dams who have served as SGMU president include Megan Oberhausen '08, Sam DiFilippo '08, Brittany Jackson '10, and Kevin Kolb '12. 

Other San Damiano Scholars Elected to student government offices include:

Matt Duncan '14, VP Mission Effectiveness
Veronica Belles '14, VP Campus Events Committee
Kevin Crockett '14, School of Nursing Representative
Dakota Bullock, '15, Sophomore Class President

Several San Damiano Scholars who are members of Marian University's Sacred Choir and under the direction of Clare Bain performed in concert with noted Christian artist John Angotti on Sunday, March 18 in the Bishop Chartrand Memorial Chapel.   Students Matt Cannaday '13, Becky Schmitt '13, Justin Wedgewood '13, and Marian University alumna Meredith Riley '11 performed solos throughout the 2 hour concert.  The concert was recorded for a future album. 

Senior Kelsey Oberhausen '12 has completed more than 800 hours of service in her four years at Marian University.  The last two years Kelsey has devoted many hours to coordinating a program known as College Mentors for Kids.  Each Wednesday afternoon, Marian University students host students from Holy Angels Catholic School. Kelsey ranks 7th all-time in the number of service hours completed.

These students join forty-seven other San Damiano Scholars to receive this prestigious academic award.

Maxx Hagan '14 and Karen McNulty '12 were awarded the Dean's Award for Outstanding Leadership.

Skylar Halpin ' 12 received the Art Department Award of Excellence.

Adrianna LaRosa '14 received the First Year Writing Award - Eng 115

Kristin Keers '13 received the Sister Adele Zahn Award for Excellence in Humanities

Katherine Oberson '12 received the Theology Award

Emma Laut '15 received the Sister Mary Rose Stockton Excellence in Chemistry Award

Joann Derbiszewski '13 was awarded the Ken A. Elmendorf Scholarship

Amy Garner '12 received the Senior Award for Outstanding Achievement in Elementary Education

Adam Swift '12 received the Senior Award for Outstanding Achievement in Secondary Licensing Program

Kelsey Oberhausen '12 received the Nursing Leadership Award

Sarianne Capehart '12 was awarded the Service-Learning Award

Joann Derbiszewski '13 received the Campus Ministry Christian Service Award

BreAnna Nunez '12 was named the John Sweany Maid Memorial Spirit Award Winner.  BreAnna is the seventh San Damiano Scholar to receive this prestigious award.

San Damiano Scholar alumni were also noted for their academic and co-curricular contributions during the academic year.  They are:
