Gay Lynn Crossley earned a master of arts and a doctorate in English, both degrees specializing in rhetoric and composition, at Florida State University. She is an active member of Indiana Teachers of Writing and recently chaired the organization’s 2008 state conference. Her courses emphasize research, creative non-fiction and memoir, professional writing, as well as food and culture. She is currently chair of the department of English and communication.
Citing students and their writing as the inspiration of her inquiry into composition studies, Crossley's scholarship grows from classroom-based research. Her articles and essays have appeared in Composition Studies, Reader, On Writing: A Process Reader, and Finding Our Way.
