Internships

Would you prefer to learn about business by engaging with business people, projects and opportunities instead of just reading about it? The Clark H. Byrum School of Business at Marian University has always believed in the need for students to engage in internships and other types of experiential learning that provide the kind of experience that employers require.

For this reason, students in our business school must complete at least one internship experience during a semester or summer. Actually, we encourage students not to stop there! All business students may complete up to three experiential learning placements for a total of nine academic credits. Some majors can complete even more. We offer our students the following options.

ACC 470 – Accounting Internship

  • Open to Accounting majors pursuing the 150 academic credits required to sit for the CPA Exam
  • Full-time positions typically in the spring semester
  • The students take only this twelve academic credit course for the semester
  • Paid internships

BUS 360 - Internship in Business

  • Open to all School of Business majors following their sophomore year
  • Appropriate internships are related to the student’s major
  • Students participate on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week) during the fall or spring semesters
  • Students are generally looking for full-time positions during the summer
  • Generally paid internships
  • Typically three academic credits

BUS 365 – Service Learning in Business

  • Open to all School of Business majors following their sophomore year
  • Appropriate internships are related to the student’s major
  • Students participate on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week) during the fall or spring semesters
  • Employers are not-for-profit organizations
  • Typically three academic credits

We welcome your interest in our experiential learning programs. If you need additional information, feel free to contact professor Kevin Huston kevinhus@marian.edu for Accounting internships or Assistant Dean Tom Gjerde tgjerde@marian.edu for Business internships.
